Connect Education and Business held the event on 8th March at Finborough Hall, Stowmarket, to thank all employers who had provided work experience placements within the last year, and to present Awards to those who went beyond the call of duty in providing outstanding opportunities and levels of support and encouragement to Suffolk students on placement.
Schools were asked to nominate the businesses and employees that they felt should be acknowledged with an Award, and all the nominees were announced prior to the event. The Awards Judging Panel included Steve Flory, proprietor of The Hudson Group and co-founder of Ansaback, Stephen “Foz” Foster, BBC Radio Suffolk presenter and Janet Rix, Commercial Director of SOS (Site Operative Solutions Limited) who is also a Trustee Board member of Connect Education and Business.
Angela Smith, CEO of Connect Education and Business, said, “Without the support of these employers none of the vital work and skills learning experiences would have been possible for students in Suffolk. Our Celebration of Success breakfast event involved sharing success stories and presenting Awards to formally thank employers for their role in helping our county’s young people to achieve their potential. In many cases we heard how a positive work experience placement had enhanced a student’s confidence, which also had the effect of raising their future career aspirations.”
