For Parents & Carers
We believe that well-informed students make better choices about their careers options.
Parents and carers play a big part in encouraging their child at home, enabling them to make the most of the careers support and opportunities available at school.
What careers help and support is available?
Connect Education and Business in Ipswich helps your child to make the best choices about their own career. We’re the go-to organisation in Suffolk, Norfolk, Bedfordshire and Cambridgeshire to find all information, support and training about work experience, work-related learning opportunities, career-planning educational activities and special industry events.
Your child’s school may already be connected with us, since primarily we serve students, schools and educators. In Suffolk alone we already work with 800+ schools, including Pupil Referral Units (we also work with 5000+ employers and 2000+ Ambassadors).
Through a secure online information portal that we share with schools, called “All Together”, Connect Education and Business helps your child to search for all of the careers information and work experience opportunities of interest to them, from the largest bank of engaged and qualified employers in the East of England.
You can request your own secure login to the All Together portal via Connect Education and Business, so that you may view all of the opportunities available and can encourage your child to make the most of them. Get in touch for more information about any of our services.
What other opportunities are available?
There are many other opportunities that your child can benefit from, including:
- Work experience placements or internships
- Being matched with an Ambassador, mentor or coach who is already in the profession that interests them
- Interaction with Ambassadors via:
- Careers talks given in schools
- Careers-focused special events in schools and other major venues
- One-to-one careers advice and guidance
- Employability workshops (e.g. help with CVs, presentation and interview skills)
- Project-based assignments (e.g. a workplace site visit, designed to learn about a particular aspect of an industry)

If you are going through any of those circumstances, we can help you too, so do get in touch.
Is your child interested in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Maths)?
Connect Education and Business is the lead organisation for the STEM Ambassador Hub covering Suffolk, Norfolk, Bedfordshire and Cambridgeshire. This is a network of employers, teachers, leaders of special interest groups and STEM Ambassadors who inspire the next generation of STEM) professionals with mentoring, talks and careers advice, specialist work experience placements and other events. So if your child is excited by the idea of using STEM subjects in a career, the events and support offered by the STEM Ambassador Hub will be a good match.
All mentors and Ambassadors working directly with students in schools are DBS (Disclosure Barring Service) checked and employers hosting a student in their workplace undergo a robust induction process.
We keep children and vulnerable adult service users safe online by using “Brightside”, a mentoring portal that’s designed to enable mentors and mentees to communicate safely through a third party national charity. It is a quality assured and security monitored system whereby no personal phone numbers, emails or addresses are ever shared.
