£50 Challenge - Mr Hugh's and Moth in a China Shop

We at Mr.Hugh's are keen to work in the community, helping with education and awareness of health. We are looking to work with schools interested in learning about cooking and nutrition

This is a national schools challenge set out to inspire the entrepreneurial spark within students to come out through innovative business proposals and business plans. We (Mr Hugh’s and Moth in a China Shop) give each group of 4-5 students £50 to use as a start-up capital to create their very own business idea, plus £10 extra to purchase some Mr Hugh’s Rapeseed Oils. We encourage the groups of children to be allowed to run with their business ideas no matter how lavish or large they may seem, after all this is a learning exercise for them and the key to succeeding in a business is learning from your mistakes! We have had tuck shops, car washes, chicken nugget eating competitions, vintage craft sales, cake sales and even a sponsored haircut!

We come to visit the teams and introduce ourselves to them, get to know the businesses and their leaders and offer advice and encouragement towards their ideas. We then return at the end of the challenge to listen to a pitch from each team where they reveal their total of money raised.

Royal Navy

Travelling the world, making a difference, shaping a career that’s built around your skills and ambitions. It’s about as far away from a regular day job as you can get. Many employers claim that ‘every day is different’ or ‘it’s not a regular 9-5’. The Royal Navy can genuinely make that claim. Whether you join us as an officer or a rating, you’ll enjoy the same prospects for a highly rewarding future: training, travel, adventure – and a career like no other.

Whichever level you join at, how you shape your career – and how far you take it – are all in your hands. Because the Royal Navy is only as good as its people, we give you everything you need to be the very best you can be.

We invest heavily in the training that will make you truly world-class in the role you choose. You’ll have a structured route through the ranks, with fast-track, on-the-job training as a constant feature. It takes hard work, discipline and determination; what you put in is what you’ll get out.

But looking good on paper is just the start. Being in the Royal Navy means a life of adventure, travelling the world, and doing a job and leading a life that are a million miles from the civilian world. It makes you well-rounded, worldly – and highly employable if you move on.

Army Careers

The Army is different from most jobs. The people you work alongside aren’t just your colleagues, they’re your best mates. And you don’t just get brilliant training and support, you get somewhere to call home.

There is no typical day. Some days you might be on base, the next you’re on exercise. However, after work your time is your own – as with any civilian job.

The Army Engagement Group tours the country talking to a wide variety of people about the British Army. We seek to inform our audience and give them a greater understanding of the British Army through a powerful, multi-media presentation, before giving them a chance to meet and question some of our soldiers
