Go4Set Scheme EDF Energy

The award-winning Engineering Development Trust charity, with generous support from EDF Energy, would like to offer you the chance to participate in this year’s spring term Go4SET scheme. This opportunity coincides with EDF Energy’s national campaign to change teenage girls’ perceptions of science and inspire them to pursue science-based careers. Last year, EDF Energy launched #PrettyCurious, a long term programme to encourage more teenage girls to study STEM. The programme aims to give girls hands-on experiences and provide them with opportunities to learn about the wide range of careers available in STEM. www.trust.org.uk/go4set

On the 19th January 2017 at the EDF Suffolk offices, we will be hosting the project Launch. This acts as a fun introduction for everyone, to the Go4SET scheme and the “Energy and Your School” project. It also gives the students and their allocated mentors the opportunity to meet. After the Launch, the students are to proceed with the project at school, accomplishing weekly team meetings. Each team will also receive weekly visits from their expert mentor who will work with and support the students where possible.

The final event date is 20th April 2017, which requires a second trip out of school.  This is for the Celebration and Assessment Day (again at EDF offices), where each team can proudly display their project outcomes, and a panel of experts will assess their work.

Go4set teams will also have the opportunity to gain CREST accreditation for their project. Please note that this will incur an additional cost to the school and it will be the teachers responsibility to register their students. Information on how to do this will be sent out at a later date.

The Scheme is predominantly funded by EDF, leaving the small cost of £200 to the school for the first team and £100 for any additional teams. If your school would like to take part, please let us know of your interest, with an estimate of how many teams you would like to put forward, as soon as possible. g.snedden@etrust.org.uk Following this you will be sent full details with instructions on how to formally register. Please note that the sponsorship is limited to a set number of schools in the area so a prompt response is advised, to avoid missing out.
