Here at Primary Engineer, we want to inspire as many school children as possible with the wonders of engineering through our Leaders Award programmes.
To achieve this, we are launching a series of live WebEx presentations to bring those wonders straight into classrooms… but, to enable this, we will need your help!
We will be hosting these electronic events where engineers, like you, can connect to schools without leaving the confines of their workplaces via the internet. Running over January, February and March 2018, whilst we have a few volunteers signed-up already, we’re going to need more. We anticipate that we could reach over 100,000 children this year across the UK.
We envisage that the WebEx presentations will not last more than three-quarters of an hour with a third of that time spent on the presentation and two-thirds on answering any questions the children may have. Of course, to participate you will need access to a computer with a webcam and microphone – most laptops have these built-in but desktops may require you to get some additional hardware.
To get the ball rolling, please let me know if this is something you would be willing and able to do and I will send you a couple of Doodle Poll links where you can select which days and times are best for you.
We will then need a recent photograph (of you), a brief biography and a video-selfie (recorded on a phone or laptop) with a script along these lines:
“My name is ……., I’m a ……… engineer at ……………! I/We (statement of problems solved/achievements made/etc.). If you were an engineer, what would you do?”
Here are some examples of video-selfie from a couple of years ago for our Scottish award to give you an idea of what we are looking for – the only difference between these videos and the ones we would like you to create are the words “in Scotland” – please do not use these two words.

May I ask that, if you cannot participate in the WebEx, you make one of these video-selfies and email it to me?
