Further details

The International Astronomical Union is hosting a Laboratory Astrophysics Symposium (IAU S350) in Cambridge in April 2019. We take this excellent opportunity to hold an exhibition with workshops (ticketed for free on Eventbrite), to introduce, enthuse and inspire family audiences to the exciting field of Laboratory Astrophysics and give them the opportunity to meet and talk to scientists from various backgrounds and career stages. We have secured in-kind contributions from various institutions to provide interactive hands-on exhibits and staff time to present these. Add-on projects are funded through STFC’s Spark Award scheme, namely the production of a new exhibit involving a virtual reality model of a research facility and a competition preceding the exhibition event, targeted at young people (ages 8-14) with low science capital in Cambridgeshire’s rural areas. We are looking for volunteers to help us with the delivery of the exhibition event, by supporting the presentation of the hands-on activities or by receiving and directing attendants.
